Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the statement of Indian authorities on the issue was “welcome”.

“I welcome this statement of the Indian authorities that they would consider it (including Pakistani players in the IPL).

“I believe not only in the field of games but all our issues should be resolved as we are neighbouring countries, and the blame game should end,” he was quoted as saying by Dawn News.

India lost the plot somehow towards the end of the second day’s play, losing five wickets on an otherwise brilliant day for run-hunting. Registering 459/5 at stumps, the visitors lead by 226 runs owing to the superior batting performance by modern day cricket’s best technical batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Tendulkar got out after scoring a sublime 143, his second consecutive Test century. He was claimed by Shakib Al Hasan due to a misplaced shot into the hands of Imrul Kayes.

Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to field

Pitch Talk: Sunny is astonished about Shakib’s decision and also about Sehwag who would have done the same, had he won the toss. This pitch looks like a batting paradise, the ball should come on nicely and there are plenty of runs on this deck.

Gambhir Kohli star in emphatic win India Won the series

qck_20091224_165916Gambhir is the MoM, but he decides to give it to Kohli, a nice gesture: It was very important to build a partnership as the dew plays a huge part here. Kohli helped me as he was aggressive and he took the load of my shoulders, and I kept going and going. The way we batted, we never wanted the Batting PP as we were up with the run-rate after initially thinking about taking it after the 35th over. It is one of the best grounds that I have played and feels great to get a hundred here.

India Vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test Match – Day 1

Virender_Sehwag_and_Gautam_GambhirIndia have put themselves in a position of strength with a record total of 417 for two at Stumps on Day 1. It started with the 233 run stand between centurions, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir who scored at a very quick rate.

That was followed by a 137 run stand for the second wicket between Gambhir and Rahul Dravid before Muralidaran got rid of a tired looking Gambhir in the last session of play.

Sachin Tendulkar joined Dravid in the middle and the two did well to negotiate the last few overs with the new ball. India look poised to post a mammoth total on the board and ensure that they do not have to bat for a second time in the match.

India Vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test Match – Day 1 Score

Partying as a Therapy for Defeat?

msd295What does a cricket team do after losing a home series to a depleted side? How does a player deal with having grassed an opportunity to claim the number one ranking?

Well, if the team in question happens to be India, and if it’s the Indian players who have carelessly choked, when apparently the number one ranking was for the taking, the answer it seems…is PARTYING!

There are undated pictures of Indian cricketers doing the rounds which show them indulging in merry revelry, betraying their often repeated qualm of being over-worked due to a choc-a-bloc itinerary.

Yousuf replaces Younis as Pak skipper

mohammad-yousuf1Pakistan Cricket Board today announced veteran middle-order Mohammad Yousuf as the captain of the cricket team for the forthcoming Test series versus the New Zealand.

The development is latest in a series of mystifying events that have surrounded the post of captaincy in Pakistan cricket.

PCB chairman Ejaz Butt sought to downplay the episode saying that the change was effected as Younis Khan had sought a break from cricket following the ODI series defeat to New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.

Younus Khan, who led Pakistan to T20 World victory, has been embroiled in controversy ever since.
