Will the iPhone 4 Replace the BlackBerry?

BlackBerry devices are popular in the world of business use. Its popularity is especially seen in the United Arab Emirates and among the working class. At the hub of the UAE is Dubai. Dubai is a center of oil rich exporters and is one of the wealthiest areas in the world. There are also a high proportion wealthy people who are young. Recently the UAE announced they will be blocking emails from BlackBerry phones as well as other messenger services along with web browsing. This was done due to Research in Motions encryption of their messages. BlackBerry prides itself on its security and encryption methods and that is one reason it became a leader in the business world.

After the announcement of the block the Emirates Telecommunication Corp began to offer handsets for free along with very affordable rate plans. This move was to encourage users to switch from BlackBerry’s to another phone including the iPhone, Nokia, LG and Samsung. The rival telecom provider, Du, is set to make similar offers. Still this is not the biggest hurtle that the UAE faces. The Blackberry’s functionality will be limited to travelers to the area and that will be difficult to explain to foreigners who travel there. No only will this effect the receipt of emails the roaming services will be affected as well.

With this latest development provides the opportunity for iPhones as well as jailbroken iPhones to become more popular. For many countries the only way they can buy or use an iPhone is if it is jailbroken.

Does Jailbreaking iPhone 4 Cost Apple Money?

One of the reasons Apple sited when filing an appeal to the recent exemption from the US Copyright office allowing jailbreak was the cost of the process to the company. Apple claims that they receive complaints numbering in the millions from iPhone owners who have jailbroken devices. Complaints include the crashing of the device, bad battery performance and general issues with instability and reception. They state that crashes have been reported on over one million iPhones and when they include subsequent crash data they estimate they have handled over two million issues related to jailbroken iPhones crashing.

Apples costs to support issues and problems arising from jailbroken iPhone are considerable. Issues may be due to the software that is installed after the jailbreak. As Apple believes that the installation of third-party software, not approved by Apple, violates the user agreement and that jailbreaking infringes on copyrighted code they filed a petition to have jailbreaking declared illegal. This petition was, obviously, denied.

Apple argues that the cost to support jailbroken iPhone takes away money that could be used to develop better products and to support the consumers who comply with Apples terms.

Now that jailbreaking has been declared ‘legal’ Apple contends these costs will rise. While Apple is not opposing the recent exemption they do not want jailbreaking to become a widespread phenomenon. The most annoying thing to jailbreakers is that whenever Apple releases an update to the iOS of the phone they have to re-jailbreak the device and re-install all third-party software that the have installed.

Play Around With Your Photographs on Diptic

Diptic is a great app to easily mix and match your photographs and create a completely new photo. Developed by Peak Systems, Diptic is quite intuitive and simple to use. The app is divided in five areas, which are displayed on the bottom tab bar when the app is loaded. When you first launch the app, the screen displays the Layout section. The section includes several options to choose from. Each layout is consists of two, three, or even four sections. Some of these layouts are equally sectioned and divided into squares, while others have half the square displaying just one image. This enables the user to display just one image to the viewer or show all images equally, at the same.

Once the desired layout is selected, fills up the entire screen of your iPhone. You are now in the Select area. By default the background of each layout is gray in color. When you touch a particular section, the app prompts you to choose an image to work with. There are two ways of selecting photo on an iPhone, you can either capture a completely new photo with the camera, or select it from any of your photos taken earlier saved in the albums.

The image can be moved or positioned in any way you desire. Use the pinching motion to expand or shrink the photo. However, the app does not actually allow you to crop the image and the aspect ratio of the image always remains the same even if you make these changes.

When every section of the layout is filled with the image, the app enables you to manipulate it the way you want. You can rotate the photo by 90 degrees or create its mirror image in the Transform area. All you need to is just tap on the image being modified, and then select the action you wish to perform.

The Effects area allows you to do some basic edits such as adjusting saturation, brightness and contrast. Even if these adjustments are quite basic, once applied they completely change the look of your photograph. An iPhone 4/4G without A Contract? It May Be Possible Sometime In The Future without Jailbreaking/Unlocking

More and more companies are looking for different ways for consumers to have their products. The greater the variety or choice translates into more customers and more revenue for an organization. Apple is a front runner in businesses that look to innovative ideas to gain market share as exemplified by rising from a niche business to surpass Microsoft.

In 2004 Apple hired Benjamin Vigier a NFC expert as their new products manager. Mr. Vigier was with mFoundry prior to working at Apple and focused on mobile wallet and payment applications. At mFoundry his job was to review PayPals mobile services and Starbucks barcode payment systems. His background of expertise includes creating NFC wallet apps for three US banks as well.

Recently Apple has submitted patent application for iBuy, iPay and iCoupons. These are NFC enabled mobile marketing and commerce business deals that Apple hopes to take advantage of. Services would include paying customers with debit or credit cards. Payments can even be made with iTunes credits. Airline ticketing and boarding pass issuance is another area that could be handled through these applications.

So in theory Apple could possibly sell you an iPhone without you having to sign a contract. You could pay for your service in a variety of ways with any one of their payment options.

Freedom of choice may be coming to Apple products. Even though it has been a long time coming and a very slow process it will be more than welcome whenever they release it.

Most users do not jailbreak their iPhones but over two million people have without any real negative effects.

The facts remain that worms are very rare even in jailbroken iPhone. The fear of the threat of worms and voiding your warranty is what Apple would have your believe so that you will not jailbreak your iPhone.

Jailbreaking can be removed anytime you want. So if you ever need to have your iPhone serviced by Apple just restore the phones settings and take it in. No worries.

Remember there are not software programs that are one hundred percent protected from being compromised by nefarious individuals – not even Apples. So why not jailbreak and have fun with your iPhone as well as making it a whole lot more functional.

Hackers are not by definition unscrupulous but the ability to gain access to your personal information is very tempting and some people just cannot resist the opportunity if it presents itself.
